(Based on the Alpha talk: HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE)
“ Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:1-2)
1. I NEED COURAGE TO BE A MOULDBREAKER
…””Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world.”. ” (Romans 12:2)
My situation – where I struggle to break the mould:
2. MOULDBREAKERS MAKE SACRIFICES.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship” (Romans 12:1)
Worship is what you orient your life around, not just singing or praying.
““ I want to know that when I run I can do so to glorify God,” she says. “God gives each of us something special to do to glorify his name, and [running is] the sort of thing I believe he has given me” (Christine Ohuruogu)
(iv) We give God our ears eyes and mouths
“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.” (James 3:9)
(v) Our hands
(vi) Our sexuality
3. Two reasons to make a courageous sacrifice.
(i) its the best life we can ever hope to lead.
“”Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”” (Romans 12:2)
“”I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy…” (Romans 12:1)
