I have been a Christian for as long as I can remember, and have been taught and trained by my wonderful family, lots of whom are being used by God to lead in their own churches around the country. But it took until I was about to leave for university, when I was challenged on a Christian summer camp, that I realised I needed to commit to following Jesus myself, and not just because my parents did. Since then I have been serving God in lots ways in a number of churches, through youth work, children’s work, teaching, training and music.
I trained as a cancer research scientist. I don’t work in a lab anymore, but I am still involved in science in my job leading the funding team of a breast cancer research charity. So I am always happy to chat about the links between science and faith, especially when the vicar doesn’t know the answers.
You will see my and my family playing our instruments as part of the bands in the services. I spend a lot of my spare time doing musical things with the family and with the youth orchestras my girls are in. but it great for all of us to use those gifts in God’s service as well.
