Introduction

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” (2Cor.8:9)

Thanks for wanting to know more about how we fund what we do.

St James’s Church depends on God for all it does, and He provides through the generous and sacrificial giving of our congregation. The information on this page will help you play your part.

If you’d rather speak to our Giving Secretary about your giving, please contact Chris Jones on 0208 4400444.

Start Here – Are you a UK tax payer?

If you are a UK tax payer (whether income or capital-gains) the government allow us to claim an additional 25p for every £1 you give. To participate in this brilliant free scheme, you need to complete a gift aid declaration.

Regular Giving

The simplest way to give regularly is by setting up a standing order with your bank. This enables you to choose the amount you give, and the time and frequency with which you give it (for example, weekly or monthly, on pay-day etc.).

To download a form you can send to your bank to do this click here: standing order

One-off gifts

Most banks will allow you to make an electronic gift direct from your account to the church’s account. If you wish to do this, please use the following details.

If you are giving by cheque, please make it payable to St James Church PCC.

Account Name: St James PCC Covenant Account. Account no: 00027936, Sort Code: 20-95-61. Bank Address:  Barclays Bank, 1250 High Road, Whetstone, London, N20 0PB. Please use your initial and your surname as a reference so we can identify your payment.

If you are a UK tax-payer and haven’t already filled out a gift-aid form, please help us make the most of your gift by filling in a gift aid declaration and returning it to our Covenant Secretary Chris Jones.

Collection bowls during services

We understand that some people prefer to give physically, rather than electronically. To aid you in this, we have two collection bowls available on a Sunday morning, situated at the entrance to the two main aisles in church. We also pass a collection bowl round during our services. If you are a visitor please don’t feel under any obligation to give – this is for church members.

To enable us to claim an additional 25p for every £1 you give, please use the giving envelopes provided beside the bowls.

Cheques

If you are giving by cheque, please make it payable to St James Church PCC.

Legacies

If you would like to consider making a donation to St James’s in your will, then please ask your solicitor about this, when you make, or change your will. Some local solicitors offer a free will-making service every November (if you donate to charity). Visit WillAid for more information about this great free service.

To find out more about how to make a will, visit the Citizen’s Advice Bureau Website.
