Funerals at St James’s

Jesus said, “Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted.” [Matthew 5:4]

May we begin by expressing our sympathy on your loss.

No two Christian funerals are alike, and at St James we want to work with you to help you remember your loved one in an appropriate and personal way.

This will typically involve at least one meeting with the person who will lead the funeral service to make arrangements.

However the first step is to find an undertaker, and to express a preference for a Christian funeral at St James’s New Barnet. The undertaker will then co-ordinate dates with the various people involved, and pass your details to whoever is leading the service so that you can finalise arrangements.

• To help you choose hymns for the funeral service, we’ve compiled a list of hymns that work well at funerals, but if the ones you want aren’t on the list, that’s fine - just discuss it with whoever is leading the service.
