St James's Church New Barnet is part of the Church of England, and the diocese of St Albans. Founded in 1911, we’re gearing up for our centenary celebrations in 2011.

The church is lead by the vicar, Barry Unwin, though really its leader is Jesus Christ.

I grew up in a family of non-churchgoers, proclaimed myself an atheist as a teenager, and then Jesus brought me to my senses when I was 16.

Since then I’ve been to university twice, married my wonderful wife Carol, been blessed with five great children, and now I’m really excited to be helping God’s people grow grow God’s kingdom here in New Barnet.

I hail from up north - so supporting Sunderland is in my blood. When I’m not being a dad to my kids and a husband to Carol, I enjoy walking, photography, most sports and debating things over coffee (who’s buying?).

The most useful book I’ve read in the last year is:Tim Keller's, The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Scepticism. <
